Question · Ages 4–12

Is my child gifted or just bright?

3 min readUpdated October 3, 2026

You can't tell for sure from home. Bright children learn well and enjoy school; children described as gifted often learn unusually fast, think in unusual depth, and may need different challenge to stay engaged. Only a qualified professional can assess giftedness, and many families never need to.
